The perils of ministry....

T-Bone, I'm sorry to hear that your experience has not gone the way you would have liked it to. I do know however, from our previous conversations, that we both have some of the same hangups when it comes to outdoor ministry. It's good for most: not for us. I was surprised to see a 701 number come on my cell last night, because I didn't know who it would be. I'm looking forward to seeing you when you return to the Twin Ci-tays.

We all need to take a lesson here. If it's not right, you work as hard as you can, but ultimately, the viability of ministry is connected to our own call and our own viability. My prayer is that all of us would be viable come later on down the line.

Idle thoughts...

The world of Luther Seminary is beginning it's transition. Three days from now, the new blood arrives. The Greeklings and the Hebrews, as I like to call them. Do you remember when? I remember coming to this place as a young glory theologian, and look at me now! :D But seriously, there are ones coming to take up our mantles here. These new ones entering, now and in the fall, are here to learn and grow. They will be the new voices. And us interns lurk in the "darkness". We won't be on campus. We won't get to be a (big) part of the huge discussions that go on. But our voice is still heard. Our voice still echoes in the walls of Gullixson and Northwestern. We must remember that it is not our job at this point to speak to the expectations of our classmates. We speak to the expectations of the people. And when we return, we bring those people back with us. It will all come full circle.

I had a wonderful experience my last day of CPE. My final hour was with my bible study group, who are some of the most wonderful ladies you would ever meet. One woman brought her keyboard, and once we were done, she played a couple songs. The last one she played was called "We Are Praying For You". That's all we can ask, folks. We can only ask that the ones we care about and the ones who care about us are praying. So, don't forget to pray for the sem, too. They need just as much prayer as we do, maybe even more. And one day, as a certain governor might say, we'll be back.
