Been a long time....

Hey folks. It's been about a month since I last posted, not because I haven't wanted to, but because much has been going on around these parts. If I'm not off at a class, worship, or a game for some of my confirmation kids, I'm up in the Cities seeing my gal. A chicken sans head comes to mind. :D

But seriously, things are going really well. I've preached twice since Christmas, and I've begun to teach the large group section of our confirmation class. This section is entitled "What is a Lutheran?", so it's right up my alley. I'm preparing a session overviewing the sacraments right now. I've also switched to teaching the adult class on Sundays from the JHSS. We're going through "The Freedom of a Christian". It should be interesting. :D We've got our annual meeting coming up in about a week and a half, so that should be fun.

One of my fun outlets is found on oldlutheran.com. They have a "Table Talk" board which anything and everything gets talked about. It's my theological outlet. Go check it out if you have time.

Otherwise, things are hunky dory. God bless!

In Christ's Hope,
Christopher

Prayer of a Young Preacher

I'll probably have a longer post later in the week, but I wanted to respond to Bones' question. I did a quick search in my Luther's Works CD-ROM for it, but I could not find it. It might be in the Table Talk. I originally found it (and still have it) in "Luther's Prayers", edited by Herbert Brokering. For those who are wondering what we're talking about, this is Luther's "Prayer of a Young Preacher":

Dear God, I have begun to preach, and to teach the people. It is hard. If it offends here and there, may no harm be done. Since you have commanded me to preach your Word, I will not stop. If it fails, it fails for you. If it succeeds, it succeeds for you and me. Amen.
